Vehicle Description

Presenting this wonderful LWB Daimler Sovereign finished in damson red and complemented with full beige leather seats and a black vinyl roof, this vehicle has been with its present owner for the last 38 years, and he has sadly had to give up driving through health reasons. The vehicle has been garaged since his ownership and is now MOT and tax exempt. This 1978 Daimler Sovereign presents a rare chance to own a piece of automotive history, boasting a substantial 4.2 litre petrol engine. As a classic example of Daimler's commitment to luxury and performance, this Sovereign offers a refined driving experience. Jaguar launched the XJ6 in 1968, with the Daimler variant released a year later. The Coventry firms marketing people called it the finest Jaguar ever, which wasnt hyperbole because it set a new standard for saloon car civility and luxury. The first model ran up until 1973, albeit with a few upgrades along the way, including a new three-speed automatic transmission that allowed keen drivers to hold onto the lower ratios for longer, improving acceleration. Cosmetic changes included the option of a long-wheelbase version in 1972, which gave the rear passengers an extra four inches of legroom. The Series II cars arrived in 1973 with a modest facelift that included a lower radiator grille and raised bumpers to meet Federal impact legislation. More significantly, buyers were now restricted to the ultra-pretty short-wheelbase Coup or the long-wheelbase saloon; neither was a hardship. Nor was the retention of the silky-smooth 4.2 engine, which remained the most popular engine for both Jaguar and Daimler cars in the UK. The robust 4.2-litre engine provides ample power, making this Daimler Sovereign a capable and enjoyable vehicle. Its enduring design and engineering highlight the quality associated with the Daimler marque, offering a compelling proposition for enthusiasts and collectors alike.
